Periodontal Disease

Advanced gum disease, called periodontitis, is signified by inflamed, bleeding gums that have retracted from the teeth to form pockets. As bacteria accumulates in these pockets, the surrounding gum tissue and underlying bone structures begin to weaken and deteriorate. Left untreated, periodontitis can result in tooth and bone loss.
